Grooming

While cats are expert groomers, they often need a bit of input from their trusted humans whether it’s with brushing, teeth cleaning, claw trimming or a summer fur-trim plus the provision of a quality claw-scratching station so they’re less inclined to absolutely destroy your couches, mattress or carpet. Regular brushing will also reduce the instances of hairballs which kitties love to hide around the house in hard-to-access places.

For the ultimate in cat luxury, you really can’t beat these products from Catzviral. For a start there’s the electronic massager which will have your kitty in purring heaven. Continue the day-spa experience with the grooming glove or self-cleaning brush and set up the Corner Self-Massager for kitty to help themselves when you’re not available to tend to their every whim. You save 10% storewide when you enter our code CATLOVERSADVICE10 at checkout.

Michu has you covered with their scratching posts, brushes, shedding rake, claw-trimmers, shampoo and a massager. Just use our code PETLOVERSADVICE at checkout.

Cats Love Routine

Nighttime drive-bys interrupting your sleep??

This is your kitty wanting you to be awake to hang out, play or feed (usually the feeding).

To avoid this, establish solid routines as soon as the kitty comes to your home. We understand that routines are not always routine (such as shift workers for example) but you can nevertheless teach your kitty that there’s no food within 15 – 30 minutes of you getting out of bed.

If your kitty wakes you up in the middle of your sleeping time, ignore it.

If your kitty wakes you up within an hour of when you need to get up, stay in bed until at least 15 minutes beyond when your kitty stops hassling you.

If you’re wanting to have a sleep-in that goes past kitty’s usual feeding time, give kitty a snack just before you go to bed.

One cat or more?

Just how much kitty cuteness and fun can you handle at once?

A common conundrum is whether to have more than one cat. First let’s talk about kittens. Kittens do best when there are at least two because they’ve recently been taken from their mother and litter and won’t be used to being the only cat plus they need to learn how to cat. Two kittens together will play and teach each other the correct rules of cat socialisation plus they’ll keep each other warm.
